Oral Health Care Research Study
A study being conducted by the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston is seeking participants for research on oral healthcare for adults with quadriplegia. The research will assess the effectiveness of an oral home telecare program in which participants will receive training to improve oral hygiene via videoconferencing.
Adults with quadriplegia who are age 18 and older are eligible for the two-part study. The first part involves a dental examination. Participants who qualify for the second part will receive an individualized program of oral hygiene, which will include adaptive devices (a powered toothbrush and a cleaning device with an enlarged handle) to improve independence.
Compensation will be provided, including mileage and accommodations for participants who live far away. For more information, contact Samantha Mahoney at 843-792-3116 or Mahoneys@musc.edu.
